Let's Get Ready for Senior Portraits! Capturing Memories to Last a Lifetime!!

Senior Portraits are a special milestone in every student's life. They mark the end of an era and the start of a new chapter. To ensure that your senior portraits turn out to be everything you've envisioned, a little preparation can go a long way. So, let's dive into some helpful tips to help you make the most of this memorable experience. Get ready for Senior portraits!

  1. Plan Ahead: Start by deciding on a location, theme, and overall style you want for your senior portraits. Consider outdoor locations, like parks or urban areas, as well as indoor options, such as studios, or your school campus. Some of my favorites are Lucia Falls, Fort Vancouver, Officer's Row and Downtown Vancouver. Research local photographers who specialize in senior portraits and schedule your session well in advance.

  2. Wardrobe Selection: Choose clothing that reflects your personality and makes you feel confident. Consider outfits that are classic, timeless, and represent who you are. If possible, choose solid colors or subtle patterns to avoid distraction in the photos. if time and your photographer allow, it is a good idea to bring a few outfit choices to add variety. It is also highly recommended that your outfits are freshly pressed or steamed. Wrinkles in your photos are as distracting as a crazy pattern!

  3. Hair and Makeup: Professional hair and makeup can enhance your natural features and make you feel more confident. (personally, I don't encourage it) but, if you decide to go this route, schedule an appointment with a trusted stylist or makeup artist on the day of your session. However, if you prefer a more natural look, make sure your hair is well groomed and take care of any grooming needs, such as trimming or shaping eyebrows in advance.

  4. Props and Personal Touches: Consider incorporating props or personal things that represent your hobbies, or interests. Bring along items such as musical instruments, sports equipment, or a favorite book. These items can bring depth and uniqueness to your portraits.

  5. Relax and Be Yourself: During the photoshoot, it's important to relax and be yourself. Trust your photographer's expertise and direction, as they will guide you through various poses and angles. Remember the goal is to capture your genuine personality and create a collection of images that authentically reflect this significant chapter in your life.

  6. Bring a Friend or Family Member: Consider bringing a friend or family member with you during your session. Their presence can help you feel more comfortable and relaxed, and maybe even make you laugh which results in more natural candid shots.

  7. Conclusion: Preparing for your senior portraits is an exciting journey that allows you to celebrate this important milestone. By planning ahead, selecting the right wardrobe, considering hair and makeup, incorporating personal touches, and being yourself will ensure a successful and enjoyable photoshoot experience. Remember, these portraits will serve as cherished memories for years to come, so make the most of this opportunity to capture your very best you. Capturing memories to last a lifetime doesn't have to be difficult.
